AMAZING THAILAND

That's their slogan - Amazing Thailand. Or the land of the eternal smile. And indeed, Thai are generally very friendly people with a lot of smiles around. Behind that smile lies a very commercial spirit: of all south-eastern countries, Thailand has made the most out of tourism.

From the megacity Bangkok, to the many islands and beaches: Thailand attracts loads of tourists each year, craving for som sun tan or some Asian culture. Bangkok is actually nothing much than a huge stinking city with some interesting temples and palaces, and everything around it is super touristy. Many people also go to the North, for some hill trekking (on foot or on an elephant) or some hill tribe visits.

The beachcombers go to the south, where famous beaches like Phuket and islands like koh Samui and Koh Phi Phi are waiting. Unfortunately most of it is mass tourism. Mind you, still with the eternal smile on the face.
