After our tour of the west coast of the USA we thought: while we are here anyway, why not visiting Hawaii, the last state? Now we are not really beach people, so we picked the most adventurous island: Kauai.

Well, actually I can be short. Hawaii was NOT our thing. First of all, we stayed in one of those impersonal resort-like hotels which was 100% american, so a bit over the top. We rented a car and hoped to find deserted beaches with beautiful sunsets. Well, forget about it. We hardly saw the beach, because the view was always blocked by residences with private beaches. So we were more or less restricted to the beach at our hotel, together with many large and noisy families.

Kauai does have a beautiful landcape however, especially on the side where is a big canyon. Beautiful vistas and apparently you can do multi-day hikes which we would have loved to do, but we didn't have the time for it. That hike was featured in the movie "The Perfect Getaway". Unfortunately we found both movie as Hawaii moderate. No "perfect getaway" for us dus...
